On the occasion of World Music Day, the 25th Silver Jubilee of 'Sur Aangan', an organization dedicated to music and poetry, was celebrated with great pomp at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot. On this occasion, a grand music event was organized in collaboration with the college.The function was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Dr. Rajesh Mohan, by performing the Saam Raban ceremony. Principal Dalbir Singh, District Language Officer Manjit Puri. Prof. Manju Kapoor also joined in. After this, the student artists of Sur-Aangan sang Saraswati Vandana and Sur-Aangan Dhuni. Prof. Gursewak Singh welcomed the guests presentOn this occasion, Dr. Deepak Bhatt, Dean College Baba Farid Medical University Faridkot attended as a special guest and while giving his valuable views said that Sur-Aangan is not only a music institution but a movement which is constantly striving to instill pure quality and creative literary and musical qualities in the new generation.Dr. Rajab Mohan while addressing said that music is the food of our soul. We should connect today's generation with music. Sur AanganSansthan has been working continuously for 25 years in the promotion and dissemination of quality music in this area and till now it has been continuously organizing World Music Day.In this program that lasted for about 5 and a half hours, many artists gave beautiful performances of different musical genres, in which Gulab Singh, Sukhwinder Sarang Mohali Arsh Kavya, Rishab Seti Harshvardhan, Jaswant Singh Jalalabad, Hansraj Jaito etc. enchanted the audience with their songs. Apart from this, Harpreet Kaur and Kirandeep presented a bouquet of Hindi film songs. Amanpreet Kaur and Sarabjit Kaur presented Farida Khanum's ghazals. Madhav Arora, Harman, Noor, Lucky, Manpreet Kaur, etc. sang Shastri and Sugam songs. Renowned musicians Harjit Singh and Sahil Tagoria accompanied the tabla.In the evening, Dr. Rajesh Mohan brought the event to its peak with his famous composition 'Rang BirangBol'.At the end of the event, Dr. Rajab Meran was specially honored by the Sur Aangan organization for his services to music and everyone was congratulated by cutting the 25th Silver Jubilee cake. Raghu Arora, a member of the organization, thanked everyone. Music teacher Diljit Kaur performed the responsibility of the stage conductor in a good manner.On this occasion, famous poet Vijay Vivek was present. Apart from this, the special personalities present included Principal Jagdeep Singh, Principal Kumar Jagdev Singh Brar, Prof. Anil Gupta, Principal Ugurdeep Singh Dhudi. Prof. Birinderjit Singh, famous tabla player Ravi Shah, Amit Sharma, Alexander D'Souza, Mehar Singh Sandhu, Praveen Kala, Balkrishna Balwinder Singh, Kalam De Rang Sahitya Sabha, various social service organizations, journalists, dignitaries from the surrounding area and the city enjoyed the event for hours. This program left a memorable mark and was a grand success.

Desh Bhagat Village Chetan Dev Government College of Education Faridkot, under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan and Prof. Manju Kapoor, an awareness seminar on not burning stubble was organized on 06 june 2025 by the National Service Scheme Department of the college. On this occasion, Prof. Manju Kapoor shared her views and said that by burning stubble, pollution spreads, trees and birds living in them also get burnt. National Service Scheme program officer addressing the students and said that while the smoke of stubble is dangerous for oneself, it also spreads pollution and by burning stubble, the fertility of the earth also decreases. Therefore, instead of burning the stubble, it can also be sold to companies or cardboard factories by making bales of it. During this seminar, Prof. Ranjit Singh Bajwa, Dr. Rupinderjit Kaur, Prof. Rajeswari Devi, Prof. Jasbir Kaur, Prof. Sukhpal Kaur, Prof. Fanny Chawla, Librarian Poonam Rani, Karamjit Kaur and students were present.

World Environment Day’ celebrated at Government College of Education

On the occasion of World Environment Day, Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education Faridkot, under the guidance of Chief Guest Gurdit Singh Sekhon MLA and Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan, ‘Herbal Park’ was inaugurated by planting various types of herbal plants in collaboration with the college’s Environment Club and National Service Scheme Department. On this occasion, Amandeep Singh Baba, Chairman Market Committee Faridkot also specially attended. MLA Sekhon said that every person should plant as many plants as possible to protect the environment from pollution and should also take care of them. Along with this, he also appreciated the efforts of the college principal, staff and students for creating ‘Herbal Park’ in the college on the occasion of World Environment Day. Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan motivated all the staff and students by telling them about the theme of World Environment Day 2025, 'Ending Plastic Pollution'. Prof. Birinderjit Singh said that in the 'Herbal Park', the chief guest planted herbal plants like Neem, Awla, Tulsi, Suhanjana, Curry Leaf, Lemon, Aloe Vera, Lemon Grass, Cardamom etc. Finally, in-charge of Environment Club and National Service Scheme Prof. Rajeshwari Devi, Prof. Karamjit Singh, Prof. Manvinder Kaur thanked the chief guest and the special guest.

World No Tobacco Day celebrated at Government College of Education

World No Tobacco Day was celebrated at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education Faridkot on 31 may 2025 by the NSS department of the college under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan. On this occasion, Professor Karamjit Singh told the students how tobacco is harmful to our health. He motivated the students to stay away from tobacco for the rest of their lives. On this occasion, Dr. Rajesh Mohan said that a person who consumes tobacco not only harms himself, but also harms the health of the people sitting with him.On this occasion, the students of the college also presented their views regarding the No Tobacco Day. In the end, Prof. Manvinder Kaur thanked everyone. All the staff and students of the college were present on this occasion.

Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education Faridkot, under the able leadership of the College Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan, under the orders of the Education Department, the students of the NSS department of the college celebrated the week under the topic of Ending Plastic Pollution Globally and organized various activities. The purpose of celebrating this week was to free the earth from single-use plastic. A seminar was organized during this week. On this occasion, Karamjit Singh Sran, founder of SEER an organization that has been doing excellent work for the cleanliness of the environment in Faridkot city for the last 20 years, District Resource Person, Education Department, Faridkot, explained in detail the disadvantages of using plastic and encouraged the students to not use plastic in their lives. In the second phase of the week, Prof. Manvinder Kaur told the students that today's students are our golden future of tomorrow. Therefore, the student community will have to first understand the challenges arising on the earth and then make efforts to solve it. She motivated the student community to understand the topic of ending plastic pollution globally and continuously do small and big works under it and made them take a pledge. As the week progressed, the students took out a rally with bundles of cloth bag in their hands, through which they gave the message that the earth should be free from single-use plastic first. During this week, various competitions were held on the relevant topics to make the students aware of the need to free the earth from plastic pollution. On the last day of this week, the MLA of the constituency Gurdit Singh Sekhon reached the college and inaugurated the Herbal Garden being prepared in the college. On this occasion, Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan said that the purpose of celebrating this week in the true sense will be meaningful only when we make our daily lives free from plastic. In-charge of the Environment Club Prof. Karamjit Singh, Prof. Rajeshwari Devi and the college staff gave their support to celebrate the week.

National Anti-Terrorism Day celebrated at Government College of Education, Faridkot

Under the commendable leadership of Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan, a seminar on "National Anti-Terrorism Day" was organized at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit and the Social Science Club of the college.The seminar was organized under the supervision of Prof. Manju Kapoor. The President of District Press Club (Print Media), Mr. Amit Sharma, participated as the chief guest and enlightened the students about the importance and purpose of this day.Prof. Birinderjeet Singh, Incharge of the college’s Social Science Club, was the main speaker and shared his views with the students. On this occasion, Deputy President of District Press Club (Print Media), Mr. Parvinder Arora, was also present as a distinguished guest.The stage was conducted by Prof. Manvinder Kaur, the Program Officer of the NSS Unit, who welcomed the chief guest and all attendees. A slogan-writing competition on drug prevention was organized in the Government College.

RED RIBBON CLUB

As per the guidelines of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India (Department of Social Justice and Empowerment – Drug Prevention Division), a drug prevention program was conducted on 06-05-25 at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot, under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan, in collaboration with the college's Red Ribbon Club. The program's nodal officer, Prof. Sukhwinder Kaur, stated that a slogan-writing competition was also held for the students in the college. The top three students were honored with medals by the principal and the entire staff.

College Language Forum of Govt. College of Education Organizes Literary Event 'Birha Toon Sultan'

At Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot, under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan, the College Language Forum organized a literary tribute event titled "Birha Toon Sultan" on the occasion of the 52nd death anniversary of the renowned Punjabi poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi.Professor Birinderjeet Singh, patron of the College Language Forum, informed the press that celebrated poet Vijay Vivek was the chief guest, and Punjabi poet and critic Sukhjinder Singh was the keynote speaker at the event. The program was presided over by Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan, who is also a noted musician.At the beginning of the event, the chief guest, keynote speaker, Principal, professors, and student office-bearers of the Language Forum paid floral tribute to the photograph of Shiv Kumar Batalvi. Prof. Sandeep Singh welcomed all attendees with an introductory speech, while Prof. Sukhwinder Kaur, in-charge of the Language Forum, stated that the students Isha Rani and Sukhchain Singh played an excellent role as stage anchors.Students of the Language Forum captivated the audience with performances dedicated to Shiv Kumar Batalvi, including songs, ghazals, poems, recitations, and speeches. Recitation of Shri Sukhmani Sahib Conducted at Govt. College of Education, Faridkot

At Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot, the recitation of Shri Sukhmani Sahib Ji was conducted with reverence by the Principal, entire staff, and M.Ed. and B.Ed. students.On this occasion, prayers were offered for the well-being and spiritual upliftment of all staff and students. Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan, while addressing the students, encouraged them to live in unity and harmony, and motivated them to work diligently to move forward in life. He also extended his best wishes to all students for their upcoming annual examinations.The stage proceedings were smoothly conducted by Prof. Ranjit Singh Bajwa.
