World Earth Day Celebrated at Government College of Education, Faridkot

ENVIRONMENT & ECO CLUB

Under the able guidance of Dr. Rajesh Mohan, Principal of Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot, World Earth Day was celebrated by the college’s Environment Club, Social Science Club, and NSS Department. On this occasion, students of the college participated enthusiastically in various activities related to Earth Day, such as poster-making, speeches, skits, songs, poetry, dance, and more. Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan encouraged the students to take responsibility for protecting the environment. The program began with Prof. Karamjit Singh sharing his thoughts on the significance of World Earth Day. Among the participating students were Maninderpal Sharma, Navjeet Kaur, Aditiya Mogla, Navreet Kaur, Sukhpreet Kaur, Pooja Devi, Pooja Sharma, Kashish Chander, Amritpal Singh, Bhinder Singh, Isha, Deepika, Amritpal, Sukhchain Singh, Amrit Kaur, and others who took part in different categories. The stage was ably conducted by students Aditiya Mogla and Maninderpal Sharma. In the end, Prof. Rajeshwari Devi reviewed the program, and Prof. Ranjit Singh Bajwa also shared his views. On this occasion, besides the in-charges of the Environment Club, NSS Department, Social Science, Art and Craft Club, Music, and Folk Dance Club, all faculty members of the college were present.

RED RIBBON CLUB

At Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot, under the leadership of Prof. Manju Kapoor, the college’s Red Ribbon Club organized a rally to raise awareness against drugs and AIDS. On this occasion, Prof. Manju Kapoor emphasized that to protect ourselves from AIDS, the first and foremost requirement is to have proper information. She provided details about the causes, symptoms, and treatment of AIDS. She stated that Punjab is the land of saints and spiritual leaders, and we all need to make collective efforts to free it from the grip of drugs. On this occasion, students of the college spread awareness against AIDS and drug abuse through poems, songs, speeches, and charts. In the end, the students conducted an awareness rally.

At Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot, the fourth blood donation camp was organized under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Manjit Singh Makkar and the guidance of Acting Principal Prof. Manju Kapoor. This camp was dedicated to the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev Ji.Camp in-charge Prof. Birinderjit Singh informed the press that 35 units of blood were collected during the camp. The event was inaugurated by the chief guest S. Gurkirandeep Singh Sidhu (Assistant Commissioner, U.T.).The camp was organized in collaboration with the college’s Red Ribbon Club, NSS Department, Old Students Association, and the Blood Bank of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot. Special support for the camp was provided by Gurjeet Harry Dhillon and the S. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon Memorial Welfare Society (Regd.), Faridkot.Prominent attendees included Shri Upinder Sharma (son of Pandit Chetan Dev Ji), Paramjit Singh Plain, Captain Dharam Singh Gill, Principal S. Sukhchain Singh Brar, Principal Jagdeep Singh, Ravinder Bugra, Pardeep Deora (Deputy DEO), Sunderpreet Kaur, and Japbir Singh.Students of the college, their parents, and residents of Faridkot enthusiastically participated in the blood donation. Among the college staff who donated blood were Prof. Ranjit Singh Bajwa, Dr. Ratan Lal, and Lakhwinder Singh Lakha.Punjabi folk songs added to the vibrancy of the event. To ensure the camp's success, valuable contributions were made by college staff members including Prof. Sandeep Singh, Dr. Rupinderjit Kaur, Prof. Rajeshwari Devi, Prof. Jasbir Kaur, Prof. Sukhpal Kaur, Prof. Fanny Chawla, Prof. Sukhwinder Kaur, Prof. Manvinder Kaur, Prof. Karamjit Singh, Prof. Rimmy, Mrs. Poonam Rani, Mrs. Karamjit Kaur, and M.Ed. students.Prof. Ranjit Singh effectively managed the stage proceedings. In the end, the blood donors were honored with certificates, medals, and mementos.Organizer Prof. Birinderjit Singh expressed heartfelt thanks to the chief guest, special guests, the principal, staff, guests, blood donors, media personnel, and students.Members of the Old Students Association including Gurvinder Singh Dhingra, Vishwajeet Singh Daisy, Dr. Tajinder Singh Dhindsa, Radha Krishan, Santokh Singh, and Harjinder Singh Grewal were also present.Additionally, Mandeep Singh, Gursewak Bargari, Pankaj Dua, Shivnath Dardi, Raj Gill Bhana, K.P. Singh, and Manmohan Singh also participated in the event.

Inter-House Volleyball and Tug-of-War Competitions Organized at Government College of Education in Honor of Martyrs' Day

At Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot, inter-house boys' volleyball matches and girls' tug-of-war competitions were organized to commemorate the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev Ji. These events were conducted under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Manjeet Singh Makkar and Prof. Manju Kapoor.Sports in-charge Prof. Ranjit Singh Bajwa informed that students from the college's four houses—Shaheed Bhagat Singh House, Lala Lajpat Rai House, Sardar Patel House, and Shaheed Udham Singh House—participated in the competitions. In the final match of the girls' volleyball tournament, the team from Shaheed Udham Singh House secured the winner’s position, while Shaheed Bhagat Singh House stood as the runner-up. In the girls' tug-of-war final, the team from Sardar Patel House claimed victory, with Lala Lajpat Rai House finishing as runners-up.On this occasion, Principal Dr. Manjeet Singh Makkar, Prof. Manju Kapoor, and Sports Head Prof. Ranjit Singh congratulated the in-charges and all winning students of the champion and runner-up houses.Former hockey player Parmjeet Singh Plain also graced the event as a special guest. At the end of the event, the students of the winning and runner-up teams were honored with medals by the professors. A seminar on the topic "Blood Donation is the Greatest Donation" was organized at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Manjit Singh and the active guidance of Acting Principal Prof. Manju Kapoor.Civil SurgeonDr. Chander Shekhar Kakkarparticipated as the chief guest. He raised awareness among students about blood donation and its importance, encouraging them to come forward and donate blood.The organizer and host of the seminar, Prof. Birinderjit Singh, informed the press that this seminar was held in connection with the upcoming fourth blood donation camp, which will be organized at the college on March 22, 2025 (Saturday), dedicated to the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev Ji.At the end, the chief guest was honored with a special token of appreciation. A seminar was organized under the topic 'Blood Donation is Great Donation' at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Manjit Singh and Executive Principal Prof. Manju Kapoor. In which Dr. Anjali Handa (Assistant Professor), Dr. Ravneet (Assistant Professor) from Blood Bank, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital Faridkot and Dr. Sruthi Mangal (BTO) from Civil Hospital Faridkot visited as the main speakers. The speakers made the students aware about blood donation and its importance. The organizer and moderator of this seminar, Prof. Birinderjit Singh, informed the press that this seminar was organized in connection with the fourth blood donation camp being organized at the college on 22nd March 2025 (Saturday) 'dedicated to the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev Ji'. At the end, the guests were thanked and honored with special honors. All the professors and students of the college were present on this occasion.

63rd Annual Sports Festival begins at Government College of Education, Faridkot.This sports festival was dedicated to Late Dr. Kanwaldeep Singh Brar: Principal

On 06 March 2025, the 63rd Annual Sports Festival dedicated to the warm memory of Late Dr. Kanwaldeep Singh Brar was inaugurated by Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot at Nehru Stadium, Faridkot. Dr. Ranjit Singh (Retd. Principal, Government College of Education, Faridkot) was attended as chief guest in this inaugural ceremony and S. Paramjit Singh Plain (Former Hockey Player) was joined as special guest.On this occasion, Principal Dr. Manjit Singh Makkar welcomed the chief guest, special guests and other dignitaries present. The chief guest Dr. Ranjit Singh inspired the students to have a spirit of sportsmanship and said that they should participate in sports along with studies and stay away from drugs. With this, he inaugurated the two-day 63rd annual sports festival. Late Dr. Kanwaldeep Singh Brar’s family provided special support for this annual sports festival. Apart from this, Dr. Ranjit Singh (Retired Principal), S. Jagdeep Singh (Retired Principal), S. Paramjit Singh Plain, S. Jasbir Singh Jassi also provided special support for this annual sports festival and special awards were given to the best players. on this occasion, in the competition of boys Saurav (Sardar Patel House), Harmanpreet Singh (Sardar Patel House) and Arshdeep Singh (Lala Lajpat Rai House) secured first, second and third positions respectively in the 800 meter race. In the boys' 200m race, Mandeep Singh (Sardar Patel House), Lakhwinder Singh (Shaheed Bhagat Singh House) and Sobha Singh (Shaheed Bhagat Singh House) secured first, second and third positions respectively. Sukhchain Singh (Sardar Patel House), Harmanpreet Singh (Sardar Patel House) and Amritpal Singh (Shaheed Bhagat Singh House) secured first, second and third positions respectively in the 1500m race and special prizes were given to M.Ed Part II students Gagandeep Singh and Gurjinder Singh. In the shot put competition, Sobha Singh (Shaheed Bhagat Singh House), Gurpyar Singh (Sardar Patel House) and Johns Mattoo (Shaheed Udham Singh House) secured first, second and third positions respectively. Saurav (Sardar Patel House), Mandeep Singh (Sardar Patel House) and Lakhwinder Singh (Sardar Bhagat Singh House) secured first, second and third positions respectively in the 400 meters race. In the javelin throw competition, Mandeep Singh (Sardar Patel House), Ripdeep Singh (Shaheed Bhagat Singh House), Tushar (Shaheed Udham Singh House) secured first, second and third positions respectively.In the girls' sports competitions, Arshpreet Kaur (Shaheed Bhagat Singh House), Navdeep Kaur (Shaheed Udham House) and Fruti (Lala Lajpat Rai House) secured first, second and third positions respectively in the 400 meters race. Arshpreet Kaur (Shaheed Bhagat Singh House), Pooja Kumari (Lala Lajpat Rai House) and Manpreet Kaur (Sardar Patel House) secured first, second and third positions respectively in the 800 meters race. In the discus throw competition, Navdeep Kaur (Shaheed Udham Singh House), Sandeep Kaur (Shaheed Udham Singh House) and Anita Kaur (Shaheed Udham Singh House) secured first, second and third positions respectively. In the javelin throw competition, Sandeep Kaur (Shaheed Udham Singh House), Jyoti (Sardar Patel House) and Navjot Kaur (Shaheed Udham Singh House) secured first, second and third positions respectively. In the long jump, Arshpreet Kaur (Shaheed Bhagat Singh House), Navdeep Kaur (Shaheed Udham Singh House) and Sukhpreet Kaur (Shaheed Udham Singh House) secured first, second and third positions respectively.In the 4x400 meters relay race (boys), Sardar Patel House secured first position, Lala Lajpat Rai House secured second position and Shaheed Bhagat Singh House secured third position. Lala Lajpat Rai House secured first place, Shaheed Udham Singh House secured second place and Sardar Patel House secured first place and third place in 4x400 meter relay race (girls). In march past, Sardar Patel House secured first place, Shaheed Bhagat Singh House secured second place and Shaheed Udham Singh House secured third place. On this occasion, the Principal and all the faculty of the college specially honored the Chief Guest Dr. Ranjit Singh and Special Guest S. Paramjit Singh Plain. Finally, the Vice Principal of the college Prof. Manju Kapoor thanked the Chief Guest, Special Guest and the guests present and congratulated the Sports Manager of the event Prof. Ranjit Singh, Professors, House Incharges and all the staff. The stage was conducted by Prof. Buta Singh, Prof. Birinderjit Singh and Prof. Sandeep Singh.The inaugural ceremony of this event was attended by Mr. Upinder Sharma, former Jail Minister Punjab, Captain Dharam Singh Gill, Dr. Nirmal Kaushik, Gurjit Singh Harry Dhillon, Vice President of OSA of the college S. Seminar organized on the subject of ‘Moral Education and Character Building’ at Government College of Education, Faridkot.

A seminar was organized on the topic of 'Moral Education and Character Building’ at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot under the expertise and guidance of Principal Dr. Manjit Singh and Executive Principal Prof. Manju Kapoor. Shri. Rajpal Singh participated as the chief guest in this seminar and share important information to the students about various aspects of ethics and character building. Gurmukh Singh also participated in our program who is also from Sri Amritsar Sahib. Principal in-charge Prof. Manju Kapoor welcomed the chief guest. Prof. Jasbir Kaur informed the press that Shri. Rajpal Singh has participated in number of seminars in many educational institutions of the country and abroad through motivational speeches and he has also edited many books. While conducting the stage, Prof. Ranjit Singh, thanked the chief guest. All the professors and students of the college participated in this seminar.At the end, Shri. A seminar on AUTISM was organized at Government College of Education.

SOCIAL SCIENCE CLUB

A seminar on Autism was organized at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Manjit Singh and in-charge Principal Prof. Manju Kapoor. In this program Play Therapist Dr. Gagandeep Singh from the Department of Pediatrics, PGI Chandigarh and Mighty Mind Center for Children with Unique Needs, Mohali's Managing Director Chitra Sharma were participated as spokesperson. The speakers made the students of B.Ed. and M.Ed. classes aware of the innovative ways of identifying and educating children suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder in schools. The students cleared their doubts through question and answer during the seminar. All the students and faculty of the college were present on this occasion.

COLLEGE BHASHA MANCH

A seminar was organized under the topic ‘Importance of Ethics’ at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot. Under the abled supervision of Principal Dr. Manjit Singh and incharge Principal Prof. Manju Kapoor during the morning assembly. Renowned scholar Dr. Avininder Pal Singh (Deputy Director, Agriculture Department) was the Guest lecturer in this seminar. He shared valuable information about the importance of ethics and personality development while addressing the students. The moderator of the seminar, Prof. Birinderjit Singh, informed the students about the Chief Guest Dr. Avininder Pal Singh and said that Dr. Saab has been associated with Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle since 1992 and now he is also serving as the Director of HRD and Planning.Number of his books have also been published which are being taught in the school syllabus. He has delevired thousands of lectures in many educational institutions. The students enjoyed Dr.Saab's ideas and also asked various questions during the end of the seminar. The in-charge of the morning assembly Prof. Rajeswari Devi, Prof. Jasbir Kaur, Prof. Manvinder Kaur played a special role in the successful completion of the seminar. Finally, Prof. Birinderjit Singh, while conducting the stage, thanked the chief guest, Dr. Avininderpal Singh was specially honored by the entire faculty of the college
