Description of Event
World Environment Day was celebrated at Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College of Education, Faridkot, on 5 June with a plantation drive in the college campus. The programme was organized by the Environment Club in collaboration with the National Service Scheme Unit and other college clubs.
The event was held under the guidance of Hon’ble MLA Faridkot, S. Gurdit Singh Sekhon, and under the leadership of Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan. On this occasion, various saplings including neem, jackfruit, amla, tulsi, moringa, curry leaf, lemon, aloe vera, lemon grass and cardamom were planted in the campus.
Speaking on the occasion, S. Gurdit Singh Sekhon emphasized that planting trees is not enough; their proper care and protection are equally important. He appreciated the efforts of the Principal, staff and students for making the campus greener and for promoting environmental awareness.
Principal Dr. Rajesh Mohan highlighted the importance of World Environment Day and encouraged everyone to contribute towards nature conservation, climate protection and a sustainable future. Prof. Rajeshwari Devi, In-charge of the Environment Club and NSS, along with the faculty members, expressed gratitude to the chief guest and all participants for their active involvement.
